Cape Coast Stadium Nears Completion
Dr. Ahmed Mustapha, minister for Youth and Sports and Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Sun Baohong will on Thursday, December 24 pay visit to the site of the newly constructed 16,000 capacity multi sports stadium ahead of the official completion of the stadium scheduled for 31st January,2016.
The visit by both (Ghanaian and Chinese) governments officials will be the last inspection tour of the national edifice
and it facilities which is near completion. Work began on August 2013 and expected to be completed late January, 2016.
The stadium, a fully sponsored project by the Chinese government is estimated at a cost $35 million. The all 16,000 seater stadium will have a fully furnished 21 hostel rooms accommodating 2 persons in each room and separate halls for table tennis and boxing.
The boxing hall has an available boxing equipment and boxing gym equipment for use according Pulse Sports checks. There are also 2 basketball courts, 1 handball court and 1 tennis court completed together with the football field and tartan tracks. The stadium has two electricity transformers and a standby industrial plant for power supply.
The Chinese government as part of it measures to ensure proper maintenance of the facility will leave two technicians behind. They would also do refurbishment works of the facility after five years in 2021.
The construction of the flood light to make the facility usable in the evening is currently underway.
