"Return of Premier League good continental campaign"- Medeama SC Administrative Manager

The imminent return of the domestic top flight has been welcomed with opened arms by CAF Confederation Cup hopefuls Medeama as they prepare for their opening fixtures.

The Tarkwa based side was destined to embark on a training trip outside the country to boost their chances in the Confederation Cup but has been relieved by the return of the top tier league ahead of their first matches in the competition.

Medeama SC landed themselves a stand-bye in the preliminary rounds of the CAF Confederation Cup matches in the opening pairings.

Tom Strand’s charges have resorted to extended club friendly matches as the only way to keep their players in shape ahead of their return to Africa after lengthy spell of the top flight league on the legal tables.

The Tarkwa based premier league side will however be given weekly opposition after the PLB announced February 20 as the kick off of the 2016 premier league season.

Mr. Benjamin Kessie, Administrative manager of Medeama SC expressed his gratitude to the PLB for engineering the imminent return of the premier league as it will enhance the preparations for the CAF matches.

“It’s good news for us as a club participating in Confederation Cup. It will help our preparation for Africa and we are so happy on the return of the league. Our only problem is the lack of sponsorship for the league.” Ben Kessie told sport crusader.

The much awaited 2016 season look set to kick off on February 20, 2016 despite the legal threats from a number of clubs in the second tier league.
