Filipino ring icon Manny Pacquiao has announced that he intends to hang up his gloves after his bout against Timothy Bradley Jr., and the American boxer could not care less about the Pacman’s impending retirement.
Pacquiao’s own promoter, Bob Arum of Top Rank, and trainer, Freddie Roach, have their doubts that the Filipino boxer will stick to his word, but Bradley simply does not care.
“To be honest with you, I don’t know, and honestly, I don’t really care,” Bradley said, as quoted by Boxing Scene.
“If it is, so be it. If it isn’t, then hey, that’s more power to him. He can do what he wants to do,” he added.
Bradley is hoping to earn a clear-cut victory over Pacquiao on April 9, after having been awarded a dubious decision when they first fought in 2012, then losing widely in their 2014 rematch.
Because of this, Bradley said he is not thinking about the April 9 date as Pacquiao’s last fight.
“It’s a fight on April 9th,” he said. “That’s all I know.”
“It’s a fight on April 9th that I wanna win,” he stressed. “I’m sure (trainer) Teddy (Atlas) wants to win this fight. And we just have to go out there and do our job.”
Bradley had previously said that he has already accepted that he won’t get credit even if he beats Pacquiao, and he told PhilBoxing that he will not endeavor to knock out the “Pacman” in an effort to get credit from fans or critics
