Go Ahead Eagles Ends Jonathan Opoku’s Eredivise Dreams

Rampant Ghanaian youngster Jonathan Opoku saw his hopes of sealing top-flight football shuttered by Go Ahead Eagles in the Netherlands.

The VV Venlo attacking hot shot, enjoyed a breakthrough season with his second tier side but ended the season in tears after a last minute leveler from Randy Wolters ousted Venlo from the play offs.

Opoku failed to replicate his prolific campaign in the league which saw him register an impressive 14 league goals across the season in a heartbreaking 2-2 thriller at home to the Eagles.

Eagles made the trip for the return leg in the play off with a 1-0 win to their name but soon doubled their lead moments into the return leg.

Two quick strikes from the hosts however turned the score on its head before Wolters ended the promotion ambitions of the home side with a 90 minute equalizer.

Jonathan Opoku and his Venlo colleagues thus missed out on the only remaining ticket to the Eredivise whiles GO Ahead Eagles lock horns with Degraafshaft in the last four stages.

The Ghanaian has been a reported target for a number of European clubs and could seal a summer switch in the upcoming transfer window.
