GPL Match-Day 12 Preview

The Ghana Premier League (GPL) returns tomorrow with midweek games at all but one league center nationwide as we head towards the end of the first round of the competition.

The game between Medeama SC and Techiman City at Tarkwa has been postponed as a result of the former’s involvement in the ACAF Confederation Cup competition against South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns.

Accra: Hearts of Oak v Sekondi Hasaacas

League leaders Accra Hearts of Oak will play host to Sekondi Hasaacas in a game they will be huge favourites to win after their impressive start to the season.

Hearts have been very good this season playing some delightful football under their Japanese-American coach Kenichi Yatsuhashi, and should be comfortable in producing a result against Hasaacas.

The Phobians have won six of the 11 games they have played this season, and, should be able to add to their goal tally of 14 going into this game.

Hasaacas, who are 12th on the log, have lost all their away games, and, it will be interesting to see how they will approach this one against the form of the GPL leaders.

Bechem: Bechem United v Asante Kotoko

Bechem United will welcome Kumasi Asante Kotoko to the Nana Gyeabour Park at Bechem in what promises to be a fiercely contested encounter.

United are 10th on the ladder, and will seek to make the most of their home advantage as they host a Kotoko side that has lost three of their five away encounters so far.

After a poor start to the campaign, Kotoko have jumped to fifth on the ladder, and, will have something to say about this as they make the short trip from Kumasi to Bechem.

Wa: All Stars v WAFA

Second placed Wa All Stars will host the West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) at the Wa Stadium in a game they will be the odds on favourites to win.

All Stars have won all but one of their home games and will be favoured to win this one against a WAFA side that has picked up just one point from the five games they have played outside Sogakope.

Obuasi: New Edubiase United v Aduana Stars

Third place Aduana Stars will trek to the Len Clay Stadium at Obuasi to play New Edubiase United as they seek to pile the pressure on those above them.

United who are 13th on the ladder, are fighting relegation and will be eager to produce a result against a side that has won six of the 11 games they have played in the league this season.

Dawu: Dreams FC v Liberty Professionals

Sixth placed Dreams FC will welcome the side just below them on the table, Liberty Professionals to the ‘Theater of Dreams Park’, Dawu as they seek their sixth win of the campaign.

Liberty Professionals have a game in hand and will count on their fine form this season as they play against the GPL debutants.

Cape Coast: Ebusua Dwarfs v Berekum Chelsea

Bottom side, Ebusua Dwarfs will hope to spark a revival when they welcome Berekum Chelsea to the Robert Mensah Stadium at Cape Coast.

The Abontoa Abontoa Boys have won just two of their 11 league games, and, will be eager to get points on board against a Chelsea side that has picked just one point from the five games they have played away from the Golden City Park at Berekum.

Tema: Inter Allies v AshantiGold SC

Two relegation threatened clubs, International Allies and AshantiGold SC will battle it out at the Tema Sports Stadium in a game the points are crucial to both sides.

They are 15th and 14th on the table respectively, and, it will be interesting to see how they cancel each other out at the port city of Tema.
