National Women League newbies Real Upper Ladies have expressed their relieve after their first win of the season away to Subaya Ladies on Saturday.
The Northern zone top flight debutants have endured a nightmarish start to the season that includes three straight defeats and a basket of goals in their net.
The Upper west based NWL side however ended their free fall in the league with a thumping 1-4 away win at Obuasi to Subaya Ladies ahead of the arrival of Lepo Ladies for the Northen derby in Wa.
Head coach of Real Upper Ladies Tijani Umar Farouk openly expressed his relieve and excitement after ending their three straight defeats in the league.
” I have always believed we will come good in a matter of time. Our team was depleted at the start of the season with some registered players not in camp in the early part of the season. It is our first ever win in the top division of women football and a reward for our collective team efforts. We will now turn our attention to our home game in wa against Lepo Ladies”, Farouk told sportscrusader.com.
The enterprising trainer for the NWL debutants commended his players and the teaming fans of the club for their maiden win of the campaign.
“We couldn’t have won playing without the support of the club. They have been massive for us even when we were losing heavily they still come to encourage us and made us believe our time will come and that cheered us on. It is a victory dedicated to the football fraternity in Upper West region and to the entire playing squad”, the excited trainer concluded.
A brace from Gladys Appiah added to further strikes from Tijani Rufiatu and Abubakari Afisatu in a landslide 1-4 away win to the struggling Subayo Ladies.
Real Upper Ladies next host Lepo Ladies in an all northern derby at the Wa Sports stsdium next week.
