Barcelona Ready To Break World Record Fee For Chelsea Player

Chelsea star Thibaut Courtois has been offered to Barcelona amid speculation linking Marc-Andre ter Stegen with a move to Manchester City, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Belgian is believed to want Champions League football next season, and the Spanish publication claims the Blues would let him go for €63m (£49.7m).

Courtois joined Chelsea from Genk in 2011 as a hot prospect, before being sent on loan to Atletico Madrid for three successive seasons. Jose Mourinho recalled the player in the summer of 2015, making him his number one ahead of Petr Cech amid the Belgian developing a reputation as one of Europe’s finest custodians.

The 23-year-old played a crucial role in last season’s Premier League and Capital One Cup double, but his future has fell under scrutiny in a complicated campaign for both the team and himself.

Mundo Deportivo claims Courtois will leave Chelsea as they will not play in Europe next season, thwarting his plans for Champions League football.

The publication alleges Courtois’ entourage has offered the player to both Barcelona and Real Madrid, while Paris Saint-Germain are understood to be keen on luring him to the Ligue 1.

The report adds that new Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is open to letting the player leave, but would demand a staggering €63m to do so. Southampton’s Fraser Forster would be the presumed replacement signing.
