Ashgold Will Bounce Back In Title Defense - Dabou

Ashgold lanky custodian Robert Dabuo has failed to rule out his struggling side out of the title race despite their poor start to the season.

The miners have endured a nightmare start to their title defense with just two wins in the opening 10 matches but their commanding goal keeper has warned rivals not to rule out his side of the title race.

Bashiru Hayford’s side stormed their way to the 2014/15 First Capital Plus Premier League (FCPPL) Championship but has since failed to replicate their title wining campaign in the ongoing season with a meagre 11 points from the 30 available.

The former Wa All Stars goalie told sportscrusader.com, “We will bounce back and close the gap at the top of the table.

We are trailing the leaders by three wins and we are taking it on match by match basis”.

The 2009 FIFA U20 world cup winner added, ” We are looking at defending our trophy and playing in Africa once again. We are not in any way affected by our elimination from the CAF Champions League as people are saying.

It was the first time of playing in the CAF championship matches for many of us and it is going to help us a lot develop as players”.

Ashgold has since won just 2 of the opening 10 league fixtures including 5 drawn matches. The Miners next host Bechem United in search of their third win of the season in Obuasi.
