Shatta Wale To Raise Funds For Stadium Maintenance

Ghanaian musician Charles Nii Mensah popularly known as  Shatta Wale has sent a letter to the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS) requesting to hold a concert to raise funds for the maintenance of the four national stadia in Ghana.

The request was received by the Sports Minister Nii Lantey Vanderpujye who confirmed the intentions of the popular musician.

“Last week I received a proposal from the managers of Shatta Wale…Shatta wants to organize concerts across the country to raise funds for the rehabilitation of the Accra, Kumasi, Essipong and Tamale stadia,” the Sports Minister told spoke to Starr fm.

The stadium which was handed over to the National Sports Authority (NSA) in 2008 to host the African Cup of Nations was not wholly finished, which has led to some metals structure of the stadium gradually corroding especially the ministry side of the pitch.

The Honorable Minister last month reiterated the need to evaluate the deteriorating state and whether it necessitate  a possible closure of the facility.
