Hearts of Oak and Lorient forward, Abdul Majeed Waris has mentioned his desire to win the Africa Cup of Nations with the Black Stars in Gabon next year.
Since the 1982 triumphant year the Black Stars have failed to annex the AFCON trophy with their closest a losing finalist spot against Cote d’ Ivoire in the last African Championship edition.
Waris who had an injury plagued season in the just ended French Ligue 1 season is hoping to be fit and available to help the nation during the tournament proper after sealing qualification to the continents showpiece next year.
“winning a trophy is any players ambition and that desire is driving my target of winning the AFCON trophy for Ghana.”
“Ghanaians have been worried with the teams abysmal performance in Brazil (during the world cup) and the final defeat to Ivory Coast but I hope we will be lucky come next year.”
