Liverpool’s away kit for the upcoming 2016-17 campaign has been inspired by the club’s first European Cup victory in 1977 and the distinct designs on the cover of the programme for the game.
Just over 40 years on from their triumph over Borussia Monchengladbach in Rome, the Reds have paid tribute to the side which lifted the prestigious trophy at the Stadio Olympico.

Terry McDermott, Tommy Smith and Phil Neal scored in the memorable 3-1 win while Kevin Keegan and Ray Clemence also starred for Bob Paisley’s side in the victory.
The away kit has been designed in black, red and a silver trim has been detailed on the front. It also includes the iconic Liver bird crest to commemorate the club’s first of five European victories.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has revealed his delight at being able to play in a shirt which pays tribute to one of the club’s most iconic wins.
Henderson said of the new away strip: ‘Everyone is aware of the history of this great club, both domestically and abroad.
‘This latest away kit looks great and having the words of Bill Shankly on the kit reminds us of what Liverpool FC means, inspiring us every time we play away from Anfield.’

The famous words of Bill Shankly ‘Liverpool was made for me and I was made for Liverpool’ is referenced on the internal hem of the shirt.
Simon Mignolet has modelled the new goalkeeper kit, which is engineered to offer great range of movement, and is a mix of orange and black.
