Accra Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Samuel Akurugu says he is only going to improve more now that he has settled fully into the team.
The former Sekondi Hasaacas shot-stopper has slotted in seamlessly well into the Hearts team since he made the move from the Giants of the West to the capital, coming in to do a good job when needed.
Akurugu has clocked up nine games out of a possible 17 in all competitions in the first round of the 2015/16 campaign and he’s looking forward to contributing more to the team.
“I have exceeded my personal expectation so far for the campaign,” Akurugu told the club’s official newspaper, the Hearts News.
“But that does not mean I am not going to work hard at all times. My realistic target this season is to understudy my senior colleague Soulama Abdoulaye and be able to be of help to the team when the need arises and I think I have done that so far.
“My best game of the first round was against Medeama SC but I had an off day against Wa All Stars. But I believe all those are things I can learn from. I want to improve as a keeper and a player for this great club and I am working extremely hard to do that for the team,” he assured.
“The first round has been very kind to me and I pray that I get a better second round when we come back.
“I have been well received by the players and the fans and I can confidently say that the only way is to go even higher than before,” he said.
