Reigning FCPPL champions Ashgold has been issued with a war chest of 30,000 dollars by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) ahead of their opening CAF Champions league preliminary matches next month.
The amount is to help alleviate the preparation cost of the Miners as they return to continental assignment.
Ashgold stormed out of the blocks to end an almost two decades of domestic hoodoo at the end of the 2014/15 Ghanaian football season.
The Miners will be playing their first round matches in the 2016 CAF Champions league at home to OM Bejaia on Valentine day after been paired with Algerian heavy weights.
The donation forms part of the GFA readiness to assist Ashgold in any possible means to make sure they progress to the money zone of the continent’s elite club competition.
Communication Director of the Obuasi based side, Kofi Yawson, confirmed the news to sports crusader ahead of the opening round of matches.
“We have been promised 30, 000 dollars by the FA ahead of the OM Bejaia clash at home. We thank the FA for the move and wishe to make Ghana proud in the tournament.” Yawson told sports crusader.
Bashiru Hayford side welcomes their Algerian opponents to Obuasi on Valentine day before heading to Algier in two weeks time.
