Final Say: "Kotoko Will Not Field A Weakend Side" - Kotoko CEO

Kotoko Will Be ‘Competitive’ In GHALCA G6 But …

Kumasi Asante Kotoko former player and currently CEO of the club, Opoku Nti has confirmed the rumour making the waves in the local media about Kotoko fielding a “weakened” team. The Porcupine warriors who defeated Serbian side FK Jagodina in the clubs 80th anniversary clash.

The 23 – times Ghana premier league champions are yet to lose in the off season and it is this form the fans would like to see when the GHALCA First Trust G6 kicks off at the Essipong sports stadium in Sekondi on Thursday. Like many footballing fans, a defeat due to a weakened fielded by their club side won’t hurt much as when their sworn rivals, Accra Hearts of Oak win the inaugural tourney. Opoku Nti who was a former player will know how it feels to at the opposite of the porcupine faithfuls.

With the rumours still surrounding the commemorative game well alive, the CEO’s statement that Kotoko will field a second string (not a weakened side as the media report) due to a commitment in Libya won’t settle well with the fans.

Opoku Nti speaking on Kumasi based radio, Boss 93.7 fm, “we are grateful for these competitive games in the pre-season. These will enable the coach further study the new players and determine if they are ft enough and the meet the Kotoko category of players.”

He also had a message for the fans, “the fans should not be disappointed when we lose as in all games you can’t win all games as most fans  demand. These games are all equally important to get the best out of the team and an avenue for the new recruits prove a point.”
