Chief Executive Officer of Ashanti Gold, Cudjoe Fianoo has said the GHALCA Six invitational tournament was a preparatory ground for the club ahead of the CAF Champions League encounter in February.
Ashgold exited the tournament scoring only one goal in two matches reyebrows about their readiness for the CAF inter-club football competition, the Champions League.
But Cudjoe Fianoo has cast those fears through the window.
“The G6 tournament was a learning point to sharpen the rough edges before we play on Valentine’s Day against a side from Algeria. We have a month to prepare for Africa and we have a capable hand in the person of Bashir Hayford,” he told Class FM.
The Ghana Premier League champions will host MO Bejaia of Algeria on February 14 for the first leg, and Cudjoe Fianoo says they are know what must be done before the game.
“…we are mindful of what we need to do before 14 February and I believe if the board, management, players, technical team and supporters manage to scale those things, a vintage Ashgold performance will be seen on 14 February,”
Mr Fianoo said unlike the league, playing in the Champions League means they have to camp three weeks to one month, “before we play that match and that is what management is going to work at to ensure that players are brought under one roof. Everybody reports at the training ground at the same time, what they need to eat to make sure we build them up for 14 February that’s exactly what we are going to do. We will see a different Ashgold on the 14th playing against the Algerians.”
