Ghana FA Boss Mocks Tokyo Sexwale- “Sleeping in the same prison with Mandela Cannot Win FIFA Presidency”

President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi has laughed off the FIFA Presidential bid of Tokyo Sexwale, saying, the South African lacks the requisite experience in football politics to lead the World soccer governing body.

Sexwale, an anti-apartheid South African who was in prison with Nelson Mandela on Robben Island for 13 years, is hoping to succeed Blatter in next month’s elections.

But the Ghana FA boss, who also serves on the CAF Executive Committee insists, Sexwale’s campaign message of “sleeping in the same prison room with Nelson Mandela” is not enough to win the FIFA presidency.

“We have listened to all the candidates and we know what each of them is bringing on board and who shares in our vision”, Nyantakyi said in an interview with Accra-based Happy FM

“You can read from them that some are very serious about their bid and others are just walking through..just like Tokyo Sexwale”.

“For Sexwale, he came to one of our executive committee meetings at CAF and all his campaign messages were that; I was the rugby secretary at Robin Island, I was the chairman of the football team at Robin Island, I slept in the same hotel room with (Nelson) Mandela at the Robin Island and so on”,

“But it is funny because those things are not enough to win you the FIFA presidency”

“As for Sexwale, I can say I’m even experienced and competent than him” He added

The 62-year-old illustrious businessman has worked at FIFA for nine years and was a key member of South Africa’s successful World Cup 2010 bid, which was investigated by the FBI over an alleged bribe to former FIFA vice-president Jack Warner.

Sexwale is now one of the richest men in Africa – with business in gold, diamonds, platinum and oil – and insists it is time to have an African as FIFA president.
