Ghana youngster Yaw Yeboah uncertain of making trip to Nigeria for Glo-CAF awards ceremony

France-based midfielder Yaw Yeboah is unsure of making the trip to Abuja to attend the Glo-CAF African Player of the Year awards gala on Thursday.

The 18-year-old has been nominated for the Young Player of the Year award at the evend scheduled to take place in the Nigerian capital.

Yeboah is up against where he is competing against Malian and Nigerian duo Adama Traore, Samuel Diarra and Kelchi Nwakali, Victor Osimhen respectively.

CAF are to facilitate the transportation of all nominated individuals for awards to the ceremony by lodging official invitations to their respective clubs.

But with  less than 24 hours to the event, Yeboah who plays his club football with Lille is yet to receive an invitation, leaving his participation in the event up in the air.

“They have not invited me yet,” the Ghana U20 star told Sportscrusader.com.

“I don’t know [whether he will make the trip to Abuja].”

This has raised suspicion over the fairness of the award as the Ghanaian is now left at a disadvantage as he will not be present for the ceremony while his other competitors, half of them being Nigerians will be present.

Yaw Yeboah was voted the Most Valuable Player at last year’s African Youth Championships where Ghana won bronze.

His impressive display earned him the accolade as one of the brightest future prospects in world football.

He is currently on loan at Lille from English giants Manchester City.
