£27m Midfielder Snubs United For Bayern

SL Benfica midfielder, Renato Sanches has snubbed interest from Manchester United to join Bayern Munich in a €35million (£27m) deal.

The Portuguese midfield starlet has been watched by United all season having made a stunning breakthrough at Benfica.

The Premier League club had earmarked the 18-year-old as one of their top summer targets and have been in talks with his club over a possible switch.

However, they will now have to move on to other targets after Bayern Munich clinched a €35m deal for the Portugal international.

Sanches completed his medical with the Bundesliga giants on Tuesday and has penned a five-year contract.

“FC Bayern has been watching Renato Sanches for a long period,” Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said.

“We’re pleased we’ve been able to sign him despite big-name international competition.

“Renato is dynamic, a good tackler and a technically skilled midfielder who’ll add even more strength to our team”, he added.
