Dwight Yorke has praised the organizers of the 2016 Vodafone Unity Match, Primeval Media for the initiative to bring Ghanaians together ahead of the November polls.
Yorke, 44, is one of the European stars invited by former Black Stars captain, Stephen Appiah to help him use football as the vehicle to preach peace to the people of the West African country.
Haven honoured the invitation, he played the first half of the game, and praised the organizers for the great initiative of playing the Unity Match insisting it is an honour bestowed on him.
“First of all let me say it is a great honour to be here in Ghana to play alongside most of these ex-players,” he said after the first game of the twin match in Kumasi.
“I played against most of them but I did not play with them as we have played together today. So for the first time, I have played in the same team with in Ghana and it is great.
“The reception from the people, the organizers and the fans has been tremendous despite the results.”
Dwight Yorke was part of the Manchester United’s 1999 treble winning team.
