President Cup Could Be Played Across Ghana

The 2016 President’s Cup could be played across the country in some selected regions, Sportscrusader.com understands.

The new executive council of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), organizers of the annual President Cup, has changed the format from previous years.

According to sources, some regions who are partners of GHALCA feel they are maligned, and Kudjoe Fianoo and his team has noted their concerns and will make them a part of this year’s match.

Sources say Ashanti and Greater Accra regions will not be part due to Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak participation in the Cup, but two clubs each from Central, Western and Bring Ahafo Regions will play each other in their regions.

It is likely that, Ebusua Dwarfs and Cape Coast Vipers will meet at the Cape Coast stadium on July 1, while Sekondi Hasaacas and Eleven Wise will entertain each other at the Essipong sports stadium.

It is unclear the two teams from the Brong Ahafo region which will play each other, but it is believed GHALCA are looking out for the two teams in the region with rilvary.

GHALCA have written to the regions to confirm their participation before releasing the fixtures for the annual event.

However, the main match will be played between Hearts and Asante Kotoko at the Accra sports stadium.
