CAF ‘Knowingly Denied’ Ayew – Ghana Legend

Ghanaian football great, Ibrahim Sunday has added his voice to the many who seem dissatisfied and disagree with Gabonese forward, Pierre-Emerick Aubamayeng coronation as King of African football at yesterday’s award gala held in Abuja.

The Gabonese international and captain of the team pulled 143 votes to immediate compoetitior and favourite to the award Yaya Toure who had 136.

Ibrahim Sunday who himself won the the African best footballer of the year in 1971 spoke fondly of his disappointment when interviewed on Kumasi based radio, Boss FM 93.7, stating, “I’m disappointed no Ghanaian has been able to win the award for a while now.”

He added, “if it has to do with votes then the French speaking countries will win as they out number the anglophone speaking countries on the continent. Dede Ayew is a far better player than Aubamayeng and his performance for both club and country proves the former and not the latter should have won the award.”

The former Asante Kotoko player thinks Aubamayeng marches both Yaya and Dede at no level and did not deserve to be crowned ahead of them.
