Asante Kotoko proved too strong to send Berekum Chelsea tumbling out of the GHALCA G6 tournament with a 3-1 victory.
The dethroned Premier League champions delivered the massive win despite playing a man less with the dismissal of Theophilus Nyame.
Amos Frimpong claimed credit for the opening goal after his header off a delivery from the ever-reliable Eric Donkor came off goalkeeper Gideon Ahenkora and in after 41 minutes.
Dauda Mohammed then doubled the lead a few second to halftime by slotting home cooly.
Berekum Chelsea mounted an improved challenge in the second half of the game but struggled to create chances.
Substitute Asiwome Fumador pulled one back for Chelsea in the 65th minute with a glancing header.
But their celebration was short-lived as Kwame Boateng scored for Kotoko two minutes later.
And despite a late attacking surge from Berekum Chelsea, they were never able to find a way to get back into the game as they were sent packing from the competition.
Kotoko will now only require a draw in their final Group B game against AshantiGold on Saturday to progress to the finals.
Kotoko send Berekum Chelsea packing from G6 with 3-1 victory
