Newcastle have initiated talks with Chelsea over Ghana winger, Christian Atsu’s possible move to St James’ Park, according to Sky Sports.
The winger joined Chelsea in 2013 from Portuguese side, FC Porto, but was loaned to Eredivise side, Vitesse Arnheim where he made 25 appearance and scored five goals.
The 24-year-old has had loan spells with Everton, Bournemouth and Malaga.
Benitez may be hoping to use his relationship with Chelsea to persuade the West London club to choose Newcastle as Atsu’s next loan destination.
Newcastle United face fierce competition from Serie-A side, Torino, who are also reportedly interested in the Ghana international.
