Hearts of Oak Win Shamo Quaye Memorial Game

Accra Hearts of Oak represented by their U-20 side Auroras beat Gomoa Achiase Central Shamo Babies 2-1 to win the fourth edition of the Shamo Quaye Memorial Games played at the Achiase Park on Sunday.

This was a keenly contested affair with neither side prepared to yield in as the stakes were high with a lot of bragging rights at stake.

Shamo Babies won last year’s encounter by that same result at the same venue and were eager to preserve the advantage on the Phobians.

However, the Auroras side had other ideas on the day and largely dominated for most periods of the game and deserved to win of this encounter.

Manaf Gumah opened the scoring for Auroras in the first half before Osman Olubaba doubled the tally in the second. The hosts pulled a goal back deep in injury time but, it was too little too late as Hearts run away with the win.

Auroras will continue with their preparations for the second round of the Greater Accra Division Two League which is scheduled to resume soon.

Auroras Team: Innocent Adjah, Edmund Mensah (Kingsford), George Tonnyi, Bernard Laryea, Abass Saddat, Osman Olubaba, Daniel Yeboah (Mahama Rafao), Joseph Sarkodie, Mawunyo Agolo (Ahmed Tijan), Manaf Gumah, Enoch Addo.

Unused substitute: Richard Baddoo
