Daniel Sowatey Debuts In United Cup Exit

Ex-Ghana Youth international, Daniel Sowatey, made his long awaited bow for his Maltese side, Xaghra United, in a 3-1 cup defeat.

The former Shumen defensive stalwart showed class for Xaghra as they crushed out of the domestic cup.

Sowatey joined Xaghra earlier last week on a one-year rolling deal after a two-week successful trial but saw his bright start to life in Malta came to a dreadful end.

Xaghra United endured a nightmare start to the season when their star forward was removed from the cup tie just 15 minutes into the match which eventually proved to be the deciding moment of the fixture.

Three very late strikes from Oratory Youth FC, made light work of a screamer from the host’s center forward in an emphatic 3-1 defeat for United.

Daniel and his colleagues however return to the drawing board ahead of next weekend’s opening fixtures of the Maltese second tier league.
