Amartey Reveals Admiration For Scholes and M. United

Ghanaian youngster Daniel Amartey has revealed his long term admiration for Manchester United and their retired legend Paul Scholes whiles growing up as a child.


The 21 year old former Inter Allies centre back admitted getting moved by the quality of football played by the record English champions and their star midfielder in the early stages of his life.


Amartey passed through the ranks of Inter Allies before heading to Djurgarden in Sweden in 2013 after a breakthrough season in the third tier of Ghana football.


The versatile centre back then earned a dream move to the King Power after a steller two and half seasons in Denmark with FC Copenhagan that forced many top European sides to scramble for his signature.


Despite plying his trade as centre back, the Black Stars utility defender admitted falling in love with the Red Devils growing as a youngster and pointed Paul Scholes as one of many players he adored in the Old Trafford outfit.


“When I was growing up, I used to like Manchester United and my favourite player was Paul Scholes.

I wasn’t daunted at all. I really admired how he played football.” Amartey told Leicester City News services.


The January arrival at the King Power then heaped praises on the Barclays Premiership and chances of Ranieri’s men lifting the trophy.


“The premier league is the best in the world and how well Leicester have done this season was another attraction for me to joining the club.


“To come to a club that is on top of the premier league is something I couldn’t turn down and I didn’t find it daunting prospect at all.I was very impressed with what they achieved last season.” Amartey concluded.


The versatile defender has since played two league matches for the table topping Foxes since his January arrival from Danish football.

Amartey Leicester City move is a motivation for young players- Delaye Senaye

Newly elected Executive Committee member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Mr Eric Delaye Senaye has called on young players in the country to draw motivation from Daniel Amartey’s move to Leicester City.


The Inter Allies Chief tasked upcoming players across the country to use the former Copehagen defender as a reference point and try to reach their full potentials.


Daniel Amartey passed through the ranks of Inter Allies in the second division stage before joining the exodus bus in 2013 to Sweden.


The Inter Allies CEO called on the upcoming players never to give up but try to pass through the harsh conditions at the early stages of their chosen careers.


He further pleaded for an all inclusive attitude from the entire football family in Ghana if the league is to reach the limit we so much crave for as a football loving country.


“Daniel Amartey move to LCFC has made him a role for our young players and other players in the Academy houses. It would serve as a good point of reference for kids and motivate them to work harder knowing very well it will surely pay off.” Mr Eric Delaye told sports crusader.


He further tasked all stakeholders in our local league to work towards a common objective if the domestic league is to blossom in the near future.


“Ghana league has a lot to offer and with support from the government and corporate Ghana, the league will be a fantastic tool for us all. We are keeping the hope and the interest of developing a solid Premier league in the sub region if not Africa at large. Every body should come on board and support the local league.” The Exco member told sports crusader.

Leicester City on the heels of Daniel Amartey




Danish side FC Copenhagen has officially confirmed a bid from Leicester City for their Ghanaian defender Daniel Amartey.


The 21 year old Black Stars defender came close to joining the Foxes in the summer but now look destined to team up with Jeffery Schlup at the King Power stadium.


Amartey has been an ever present figure in the Danish club set up and has been valued in excess of £5m ahead of an imminent departure.


The versatile centre back who can equally screen the back four has been on the wanted list of the Foxes as they look to consolidate their top spot in England.


A reported £5m offer has been sent to Cobenhagen for the services of the defensive re enforcer by the Premiership joint table toppers.


“FC Copenhagen can confirm that we have received an offer for Daniel Amartey from Leicester City FC. Right now there is talks between the two clubs. We will send out a new press release if a final agreement is reached”, a club statement from Cobenhagen reads.


The former Djurgarden centre back has been on the shopping list of most elite European side after a stellar season in Denmark.


His arrival will increase the Ghanaian contingent in the club to three , adding to Jeff Schlup and Joe Dodoo.


Claudio Ranieri side continued their surge at the top of the Premiership with a vital win away to Tottenham Hotspur at the White Hart lane.
