Amartey Reveals Admiration For Scholes and M. United

Ghanaian youngster Daniel Amartey has revealed his long term admiration for Manchester United and their retired legend Paul Scholes whiles growing up as a child.


The 21 year old former Inter Allies centre back admitted getting moved by the quality of football played by the record English champions and their star midfielder in the early stages of his life.


Amartey passed through the ranks of Inter Allies before heading to Djurgarden in Sweden in 2013 after a breakthrough season in the third tier of Ghana football.


The versatile centre back then earned a dream move to the King Power after a steller two and half seasons in Denmark with FC Copenhagan that forced many top European sides to scramble for his signature.


Despite plying his trade as centre back, the Black Stars utility defender admitted falling in love with the Red Devils growing as a youngster and pointed Paul Scholes as one of many players he adored in the Old Trafford outfit.


“When I was growing up, I used to like Manchester United and my favourite player was Paul Scholes.

I wasn’t daunted at all. I really admired how he played football.” Amartey told Leicester City News services.


The January arrival at the King Power then heaped praises on the Barclays Premiership and chances of Ranieri’s men lifting the trophy.


“The premier league is the best in the world and how well Leicester have done this season was another attraction for me to joining the club.


“To come to a club that is on top of the premier league is something I couldn’t turn down and I didn’t find it daunting prospect at all.I was very impressed with what they achieved last season.” Amartey concluded.


The versatile defender has since played two league matches for the table topping Foxes since his January arrival from Danish football.
