Bradley Named As Swansea Coach

American Bob Bradley will replace Francesco Guidolin as Swansea City manager, the Premier League club said on Monday after sacking Guidolin.


Bradley, 58, who has been in charge at Le Havre in the French second division, is the former United States national team coach.


Bradley was hired as the Egyptian national team manager in November 2011 with the target of taking the Pharaohs to the 2014 World Cup for the first time since 1990, but he failed.


 


Former Udinese coach Guidolin took over Swansea in January and kept the Welsh club clear of relegation, but they have struggled this season and are fourth bottom of the table after seven games.

Africa U-17 Championship : Draw Date Set For October 24

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) will hold the draw for the U17 Championship on Monday,October 24, 2016  at their Headquarters in Cairo.

The tournament which is scheduled to take place in Madagascar, from the 2–16 April 2017 will see eight teams including Madagascar,Angola,Cameroon,Congo,Ghana,Mali,Niger compete for the ultimate trophy


Ghana booked a place at next year’s competition which will be hosted by Madagascar after ejecting neighbors Cote d’ Ivoire in the final round of qualifiers.


The Black Starlets will be hoping to redeem their image after an awful performance in their last appearance in 2013 where they failed to advance past the group stage.

The Black Stars of Ghana will hold their first training today at the Accra Sports Stadium at 15 :00 hrs GMT ahead of Friday’s 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against the Uganda Cranes


On Saturday, Ghana coach, Avram Grant, named his 23-man squad for the clash, and reports have it that numerous players have already arrived.


Meanwhile their counterparts Uganda Cranes have left Kampala to Lome where they will

play the Hawks of Togo in an international friendly on Tuesday.


Grant will be hoping to have a full house by Tuesday to enable them depart to Tamale by Wednesday,5 October,2016.

Aston Villa Sack Di Matteo

Aston Villa have sacked manager Roberto Di Matteo in the wake of their defeat to Preston North End on Saturday.


 


The Italian was only appointed in June and was in charge for 12 games, Villa winning just once.


First-half goals from Ben Pearson and Jordan Hugill condemned the Midlands outfit to defeat at Deepdale. The travelling Villa supporters turned on Di Matteo during the game, singing ‘you’re getting sacked in the morning’ three times.


 


Di Matteo’s assistant, Steve Clarke, has been put in caretaker charge. Villa announced on Monday morning that they had parted company with Di Matteo who previously managed Schalke 04, Chelsea, West bromwich Albion and MK Dons.


 


A statement released by Villa said: “Aston Villa Football Club has today parted company with manager Roberto Di Matteo. “The club decided to act following a run of disappointing results which has the left the team occupying 19th position in the Championship.


“The club would like to place on record its appreciation to Roberto for all his efforts in helping rebuild the squad and wish him well for the future. “Steve Clarke will take over as caretaker manager during the search for a new manager.


 


“There will be no further comment from the club.” Di Matteo is the first manager in the Championship to be sacked this season.

Rigobert Song "Fighting For His Life"

Former Salernitana defender Rigobert Song has been rushed to hospital in Yaounde and is reportedly fighting for his life after suffering an aneurysm.


The 40-year-old retired defender is currently the head coach of Chad’s senior national team and spent a brief spell with Salernitana, as well as playing against Italy at the 1998 World Cup.


Fellow Cameroonian Samuel Eto’o has posted a picture of Song with the caption “I wish you a lot of courage and a speedy recovery big brother!” on social media, while former Liverpool team-mates Jamie Carragher, Stan Collymore and Robbie Fowler also posted messages of sympathy.


Song also turned out for Liverpool, West Ham United and Lens.

2018 FIFA WC : Uganda Kick Off Training Ahead of Ghana Clash

Uganda Cranes kicked off training up-coming matches against Togo and Ghana on Saturday at the Nelson Mandela National stadium, Namboole.


 


Team captain Geoffrey Massa and his Baroka teammate Aucho Khalid were joined by Hamis Kiiza as the first three professionals to train with the locally based players.







 


Eleven eleven players made it for training on Saturday.

More players are expected to join the rest on Sunday morning training at Namboole stadium starting 10am.


Players who reported for Saturday Evening training included:

Hearts Player Invited To The Black Stars Ahead Of Uganda Clash

Accra Hearts of Oak player, Inusah Musah, has been invited by the coach of the Black Stars , Avram Grant, ahead of the 2018 World Cup qualifier against Uganda in Tamale on Friday,7th October 2016.


 


Musah, together with Emmanuel Ocran of Wa All Stars will be closely observed by Grant in order to monitor their status as potential replacement in the future.


 


Even though the duo are not part of the initial 23-man squad, this call up will serve as massive boost for the local players as the black stars coach has reiterated his desire to call up players based on merit irrespective of where they play.


Musah especially has had an outstanding 2015/2016 Ghana Premier League campaign with Hearts after winning numerous man of the match award.
