Arsenal in Talks With Inter Milan"s Striker - Agent Confirms

Arsenal’s interest in Inter Milan striker Maurco Icardi has been confirmed by the players agent, with rivals Tottenham Hotspur also credited with an approach (via the International Business Times).

 

 

The 23-year-old forward has a £43 million price tag on his head and is the latest of a string of strikers linked with the north London outfit who require a prolific centre forward to compete and compliment Olivier Giroud.

 

Another Serie A hit man Gonzalo Higuain, who scored an impressive 36 goals in 35 games for Napoli last season, has been the most hotly linked striker of recent weeks alongside former Juventus forward Alvaro Morata after a failed pursuit of Jamie Vardy early last month.

 

Higuain’s hefty price tag with a £79m release clause is likely to keep Arsene Wenger second guessing (via IBTimes), with Icardi  clearly outlined as an alternative with plenty of years in front of him. Scoring 16 times for Inter last campaign, the Argentine has received several offers from the Premier League and La Liga that could mean he may well be on the move this summer despite having three years left on his current deal.

Icardi’s wife and agent Wanda Nara has confirmed the interest while also clarifying her husbands contractual situation for the public with no release clause available.

“We want to stay in Milan. People say I am a mercenary, but I am not. [Inter] have to say the truth. They can’t say Icardi is not for sale and then talk to other clubs,” Icardi’s agent said (via IBTimes) .

“I’ve asked for a renewal because the club had promised me a renewal. Last year we accepted their conditions, which mean a lower salary, the sale of the 50% of Mauro’s economic rights and there is no release clause on his contract. They have to keep their promises.

“There are many offers, but I do not negotiate with other clubs. I only talk about Mauro’s contract, that’s my role, not doing negotiations.

“Atletico Madrid, Tottenham and Arsenal have made contact. Napoli and Roma are also interested now,” she confirmed.

Sanchez Urges Wenger To Sign Top Italian Striker

Alexis Sanchez has reportedly urged Arsenal to splash the cash on new players this summer, with Metro stating that the Chilean wants the Gunners to land Alvaro Morata before next season.

The Gunners look set to miss out on silverware this season after drawing 3-3 with London rivals yesterday, throwing away a two-goal advantage in the process.

As such, Arsene Wenger is expected to look to the transfer market this summer in an attempt to improve his squad for 2016-17.

Striker is a position that continues to split the Emirates Stadium support, with mixed thoughts on Olivier Giroud as the side’s furthest man forward.

Morata continues to impress in a Juventus team that is pushing towards their fifth consecutive Serie A title.

The Spain international would be an impressive signing and is thought to have the backing of Sanchez as the man to fire the Gunners to silverware in the future.

Arsene Wenger insists he respects Alex Iwobi’s decision to play international football for Nigeria even though it could rob him of his services at the start of next season.

 

Iwobi who couldn’t help Nigeria make  it to the 2017 African Cup of Nations is set to represent them at the Olympics which will definitely make miss out on the start of next season

 

At a press conference ahead of the weekend game, Arsene Wenger said “We have respect his choice,he had the choice between England and Nigeria and in the end he chose Nigeria.

 

“We respect that, and also the possibility that he will go to the Olympic games, that he will also go to the Africa Cup of Nations in the future and travel a bit more than he would have done here. We have to respect that.”

 

Iwobi who has been part of the Arsenal youth since his primary days has been featured for the Gunners in recent games where he has really impressed wenger and fans of the club

Elneny Wins First Award In The EPL

Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny has being named as the club player of the month for the month of March.

 

He told the club’s official website that his impressive performances which have led to him being named the club’s player of the month for March are “just the beginning”

The Egyptian international was one of the Gunners’ best players during his first Premier League start for the club in the North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane last month.

He has become a fixture in Arsene Wenger’s side, starting every game in all competitions since that 2-2 draw and scoring a fine first goal for the club against Barcelona at the Nou Camp.

His performances have seen him rewarded by the club’s supporters by being named player of the month for March ahead of Danny Welbeck and Mesut Ozil.

The 23-year-old was delighted to be honoured with the award, and pledged to Gunners supporters that there is plenty more to come from him.
