2018 WCQ: Agyemang Badu Wary of Uganda"s Quality

Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu says he and his teammates are wary of the threat the Uganda Cranes pose ahead of Friday’s 2018 World Cup qualifier to be played at the Tamale Sports Stadium.


 


Uganda in their two recent meetings with Ghana in African Cup of Nations qualifiers,won in Kampala and drew in Kumasi and they have certainly established themselves as a major threat for Ghana in past recent years.


 


Agyemang-Badu didn’t hesitate to highlight the quality the Uganda Cranes posses, he said: “The Cranes of Uganda have the quality to make the encounter a difficult one for us,  but we also have the quality to match them , this World Cup opener is very important  to us.”


 







Agyemang Badu also pleaded with the fans to come in their numbers to the Tamale Stadium and support the Black Stars to victory.

Ghanaian Youngster Rejects Italy For Ghana

Ghanaian youngster Emmanuel Agyemang has told AfricanFootball.com he rejected a chance to feature for Italy U19s because he is keen to represent Ghana.


The Novara forward said he appreciates the interest the Italians have in him, but he is determined to follow in the footsteps of his his uncle, Anthony Yeboah by representing Ghana.


“I will like to play for Ghana being my country of origin and birth even though I have Italian nationality. I qualify also to play for Italy but I will choose Ghana,” Agyemang told AfricanFootball.com


“I want to emulate my uncle (my mother’s brother) Tony Yeboah, who is also my idol.”


He added: “I was approached in January when I turned 18 through my club for an Italian U 19 invitation, but I told them I want to play to play for Ghana.


“I am looking forward to getting chance to play for Ghana U20 to start with.”
