Richard Akrofi Calls For More Aggression From Hearts Players

Defender Richard Akrofi has called for more efforts from his colleagues if they are to reach their ambition of winning the Ghana Premier League title (GPL) with Accra Hearts of Oak this season.

The Phobians sit fourth on the GPL table with 26 points at the end of the first round of the campaign, just two points behind the leaders Wa All Stars.

Akrofi and his colleagues will begin the second round of the campaign on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium against Dreams FC as they attempt to move up on the table.

The nonsense defender has urged his team-mates to be more fearless in the second round as that is the surest way to press home their challenge for the league title.

“I want to see a lot more fire in our approach towards games this second round, and, this will put fear into teams that will play us and give us the advantage to win games,” Akrofi told the club’s official newspaper, the Hearts News.

“It must start in our game on Sunday against Dreams FC and, I am confident that we will produce the result that our fans need when we approach the game in this way,” he said.

Winning a first league title in eight years is very much high on the mind of the former Wa All Stars defender, and he is urging for a collective effort from the players in an attempt to achieve this.

“If we are to win the GPL title at the end of the season, we will have to fight for it to the end, and, I urge my colleagues to step up a gear or two to challenge for the ultimate,” he added.

“There is everything to play for this second round, and, we should make the most of this opportunity to make history with Accra Hearts of Oak,” he charged.

Hearts More Focused Than Ever – Mustapha Essuman

Mustapha Essuman has said the Accra Hearts of Oak players are more focused than ever as they prepare for life without their head coach at the start of the season, Kenichi Yatsuhashi.

The Phobians, on Monday, reached a mutual settlement with the Japanese-American who agreed to cancel his two year contract with the club as the first team coach.

And Midfielder, Mustapha Essuman has told Hearts News that the players are well focused for the task ahead insisting that the Coach Keni’s departure will not affect their play in any way.

“We are professionals and as players, we have faced similar situations in the past which has not affected us in anyway; we are therefore ready for the task ahead and will fight on till the end,” he said.

“The players are resolved to give off their best for Accra Hearts of Oak for the rest of the season, and, I can tell you that our objective for the league remains intact and, it will yield positive results at the end of the season,” the experienced enforcer said.

Essuman will play a lead role in midfield on Sunday when Hearts plays Dreams FC at the Accra Sports Stadium in the first game of the second round of the Ghana Premier League (GPL) and is targeting a win for the club.

“We need to start the second round of the season on a high, and, we have been working towards that in our training sessions, and, I am confident that we will get a result on Sunday,” he added.

“The three points cannot be compromised if we want to reach our target of winning the competition at the end of the campaign and we will all out and collect them through our collective effort on Sunday,” he said.

Essuman urged his colleagues to support the ideas of the new technical head as he takes charge of affairs, and, believes that with this support, Accra Hearts of Oak will attain success at the end of the season.

Soulama Charges Hearts’ Team-mates To Focus On Life After Keni

Accra Hearts of Oak number one goalkeeper Soulama Abdulaye has urged his team-mates to focus on the hereafter now that Kenichi Yatsuhashi has left as coach of the club.

And Soulama who is one of the senior players at the club, has called for cool heads among his colleagues as they prepare for the resumption of the Ghana Premier League (GPL) second round.

“Coaches come and go and so we (the players) should put Coach Keni’s departure from the club behind us and, rather focus on the task ahead if we want to achieve our ambitions,” Soulama told the club’s official newspaper, the Hearts News.

Coach Keni guided Hearts to finish the first round of the GPL, fourth on the table with 26 points, just two points behind the leaders, Wa All Stars, and, this Soulama says they must look to build on.

“We fished the first round of the season on a high note, and, there is every indication that we can do even better in the second round if we put in a lot more effort, and, this should be the agenda for the rest of the campaign;” the Burkina Faso international said.

Hearts will play Dreams FC at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday in their first game of the second round, and the experienced goalkeeper is calling for a win for the club.

“The three points on Sunday against Dreams FC cannot be compromised, and we should go all out and collect them through our collective effort,” he added.
