Beach Soccer Unity Match

The national beach soccer tournament dubbed ‘One Ghana’ kicked off at the Laboma Beach in Accra today with four regions participating.


The tournament which is aimed at canvassing for peace and unity before, during and after the November general elections saw Greater Accra and Volta Region stealing the show with dazzling performances.


Greater Accra started on a bright note registering a 4-1 defeat over Western Region with the Volta Region hammering the Central Region by 4-0.


Other games saw the Greater Accra Region struggling to register a 3-1 defeat over the central Region while the Volta Region emphasized their dominance with a 7-1 thumping of the Western Region.


Favourites, Volta Region will lock horns with the Greater Accra Region in the finals of the competition on Sunday after the Central Region and the Western Region have competed for the third place position.


Speaking to the media on the purpose of the tournament, President of the Ghana Beach Soccer Association, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah noted the need to maintain peace and unity during the election period.


“This is a growing sport in the country and many people have fallen in love with it.”


“We therefore think we have to use this as a platform to send the message of peace and unity to Ghanaians as the election approaches,” he said.


Beach soccer is currently the fastest growing sport in Ghana.

Afcon 2016 Beach Soccer: Ghana Black Sharks to face Kenya

The Black Sharks of Ghana have been handed another tricky duel in the qualifiers for the 2016 AFCON Beach Soccer tournament as they face off with Kenya in the first round.


The Sharks currently ranked 7th in Africa will play their Kenyan counterparts in Nairobi on the weekend of 26th to 28th of August with the return leg to be played at the Laboma Beach Soccer Arena on the weekend of the 16 to 18 of September, 2016.


The 2016 AFCON Beach Soccer Tournament will be held in Lagos, Nigeria.


Beach Soccer Ghana will release full details of the Black Sharks preparations in due course.

"Our Mission Is To Support "Lesser known" Sports" - CAL BANK

The Director of Marketing at CAL Bank , Mrs. Antoannet Kuofie has emphasized on the mission statement of her organization in having vested interest in supporting culture, education and sports which forms part of it corporate responsibility.


CAL Bank who have partnered the Ghana Beach Soccer Association (GBSA) for over five  have supported the sport tremendously.below are some of the initiatives undertaken:


  • Support and Sponsorship for the National team(Black Sharks)

  • Additional $20000 sponsorship for the Black Sharks in 2015

  • Currently,sponsoring the National league at 44,000 cedis

 


The company has also embarked on the youth in Sanitation awareness, supporting the beach soccer workshop and seminars, provision of Jerseys for club sides which also impacted the sport as one the fattest growing sports in Ghana now.


She also further pleaded with the media to help market their brand which could in turn boost their capacity,so that they can make more investment in the game of beach soccer.
