Ghana Premier League : Week 24 Matches to be Honoured on Saturday

The Premier League Board (PLB) has brought forward all Premier League week 24 matches from Sunday August 14 to Saturday August 13.

The decision, unanimously endorsed by the PLB at its meeting on Tuesday, is to allow all Premier League clubs offer their unflinching support to Medeama FC in their must-win CAF Confederations Cup match with TP Mazembe in Essipong on Sunday.

The match is Medeama’s penultimate game in the group stage of the CAF Confederations Cup and a win on Sunday will give them a major boost in their bid to qualify for the semi finals ahead of their final group game against MO Bejaia in Tunisia.

I Will Solve Hearts Poor Goal Conversion Rate - Tranguil

Coach of Accra Hearts of Oak Sergio Traguil has admitted to his sides poor goal conversion rate since his arrival at the club but has promised to solve that problem as soon as possible.

The Phobians laboured to a 1-1 draw with reigning champions AshantiGold SC in their Match-Day 22 Ghana Premier League (GPL) encounter on Wednesday at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra.

Traguil, took over Hearts in the second round of this season’s competition as his side sits top of the ladder with 39 points, four better than second placed Wa All Stars with eight games to end the season.

His side’s scoring rate is at a low and this has prompted observers to question whether they can hold on to their lead and win the championship at the end of the campaign.

However in a post match interview after the stalemate with AshantiGold in the GPL, Coach Traguil said: “We are trying to improve on our weakness; goal scoring has been a problem for us maybe because the players have too much anxiety when they approach the goal area and we miss the chances.”

“I will try and solve the problem for our team, we create many offensive movements but sometimes the players forget that it is all about team work and I am working on that”, he added.

Hearts of Oak will travel to Sogakope for their next GPL game against WAFA and, will seek to maintain their unbeaten away run in the league against the academy lads on Sunday, August 7, 2016.

Kenichi Commends FA"s Disciplinary Committee

Coach of Accra Hearts of Oak Kenichi Yatsuhashi has commended the Disciplinary Committee (DC) of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for the ban on supporters of the club from the stands.

Hearts of Oak played in an empty stadium against Sekondi Hasaacas on Wednesday in their Ghana Premier League (GPL) Match-Day 12 encounter, but, where fortunate to came away with all three points as Isaac ‘Messi’ Mensah scored the only goal of the game for the Phobia boys.

In an a post match press conference Coach Kenichi said “we have being punished, which I think is a fair punishment for what we did during our match with Wa All Stars”.

“Our focus is now on the trip to Aduana Stars which is a very difficult game and we have to go there and get a result,” he added.

Hearts of Oak faces an uphill task in their next GPL match when they come up against an in-form Aduana Stars side at Dormaa on Saturday.
