Cape Coast is complete and ready for use.

And the contractor, IPPR International Engineering Corporation, a Chinese Constructions firm will handover the completed new Cape Coast Stadium to the National Sports Authority.

The Cape Coast Stadium is an edifice which will serve many different purposes including athletics.

The 18,000-seater capacity multi-sports complex will officially be consecrated on January 31 by president of the republic of Ghana.

It includes fully furnished 21 hostel rooms accommodating 2 persons in each room and separate halls for table tennis and boxing.

There are also two basketball courts, 1 handball court and 1 tennis court completed together with the football field and tartan tracks.

It was built and funded by the Chinese government to the people of Cape Coast following the death of former Ghana president John Atta Mills.

The Chinese government will do refurbishment works of the facility after five years in 2021.

Support Clubs In Africa - Jawula Tell Government

Former Ghana Football Association president, Lepowura MND Jawula has called on government to offer financial support to Ghanaian clubs representing the country in CAF inter-club football competitions.

Many African countries offer support to clubs competing against the elite in Africa, and former first citizen of the country’s footall wants government to emulate its counterparts by offering financial support to clubs that represent the nation in the CAF inter-club competitions.

The practice was also done in this country but government withdrew their support in recent years.

And with reports that Ashanti Gold and Medeama SC, the two clubs to represent Ghana in Africa this year are financially stricken, Jawula wants government to stretch their arm to the clubs aid.

“When clubs qualify to Africa as it is done in other countries, government should pay an amount of money to them at least to cover their flights and accommodation,” MND Jawula told Starr FM.

NND Jawula explained that if clubs are offered financial support, they can pay bonuses of their players from their own coffers.

“So that the clubs are free enough to use their own money to pay bonuses that can motivate the players to play well,” He added.
