Henrikh Mkhitaryan is set to make his Manchester United comeback against Zorya Luhansk this week after returning to training today.

But Jose Mourinho could be without striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the United manager looks to get their Europa League campaign back on track.

Mkhitaryan, who suffered a thigh injury playing for Armenia earlier this month, has not featured since he was replaced at half-time during the 2-1 derby defeat to Manchester City on September 10.

The 27-year-old has missed United’s last four games but returned to training ahead of the 4-1 win over Leicester at Old Trafford on Saturday.

And he is in line to be part of Jose Mourinho’s squad for Zorya, currently second in Ukraine’s Premier League, when they visit Old Trafford on Thursday.

However, Mourinho could be without Ibrahimovic, Anthony Martial and Luke Shaw.

Mkhitaryan Due for Man Utd Medical Today

Borussia Dortmund attacking midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan was set to undergo a medical at Manchester United today, according to photographer Craig Norwood, who covers United.

He claims the medical examinations were pencilled in for today, with the Armenia international set to complete his move to Old Trafford soon afterwards.

Norwood says personal terms and work permit arrangements will be a formality once the 27-year-old’s arrival has got the go-ahead from United’s medical team.

Mkhitaryan’s transfer to United is football’s new worst-kept secret, overtaking Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s transfer to United after the Swedish star’s signing was confirmed by the club.

Dortmund have already announced that Mkhitaryan is leaving them to sign for United, while the Red Devils’ new boss Jose Mourinho openly talked during his unveiling press conference yesterday about a “third player” who was close to being announced as a United player.

It would be a big surprise if the deal wasn’t wrapped up and announced by the end of the week.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan is desperate to join Manchester United and wants the transfer by any means, according to his agent Mino Raiola.

 

Furthermore, the agent also claimed that Jose Mourinho has made an offer for the free-scoring no.10.

Jose Mourinho has made the Armenian midfielder one of targets this summer but the Bundesliga club are desperate to keep their key men, having already lost Mats Hummels and Ilkay Gundogan.

Agent Mino Raiola has attempted to force through a move, considering it “a sin” if he didn’t fully pursue it, but the Daily Mail report that Dortmund will not budge.

Mkhitaryan, who scored 23 goals and added 24 assists last season, has just a year left on his contract but Dortmund would rather let him leave for free next summer.

Not only have Hummels and Gundogan already departed to Bayern Munich and Manchester City respectively, but star men Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Marco Reus continue to be linked with an exit.

United are willing to pay £20 million for the 27-year-old, as per the Mail, but Dortmund have no interest in selling him.

“We have intensely discussed the question of an early transfer and came to the conclusion that Mkhitaryan will stay next season,” said Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke.

However, his agent Raiola has confirmed his client is desperate to join the Red Devils.

“We have both taken very different views and fight for them like lions,” Raiola told German newspaper Bild.
