Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has insisted that Paul Pogba will prove his critics wrong.

The France international, who left United to join Juventus in 2012 on a free transfer, returned to Old Trafford in the summer transfer window for a world record £89m fee.

The midfielder has been a regular in Jose Mourinho’s team since his arrival, but he had a quiet day in last weekend’s 2-1 defeat to Manchester City.

Ibrahimovic is confident that his teammate will make his doubters eat their words.

“All the jealous people who talk about him will swallow all of the words they have said about him,” Eurosport quotes Ibrahimovic as saying. “He will only improve and will get everyone behind him.”

Meanwhile, United are preparing for Thursday’s Europa League group match against Feyenoord.

This summer’s transfer saga seems to have come to an end, as reports from Italy and England suggest Manchester United and Juventus have agreed a record-breaking fee for French midfielder Paul Pogba.

 

The Sun & L’Equipe reported earlier today that negotiations have been going on all day long, and finally a deal was reached between the two football giants. Paul Pogba will become the most expensive player in football history after Manchester United agreed to pay Juventus €120 million for the player’s services.

One more unconfirmed report suggested that Pogba had told his landlord he would vacate his home in the next few days.

According to L’Equipe, Pogba will travel to Manchester to agree personal terms. When that happens, the deal will be announced officially. Reports suggest that the French star will ask for at least £220,000 a week for the next five years.

The midfielder will return to Old Trafford four years after his departure. Pogba decided to leave Manchester United back then due to the lack of first-team opportunities granted by then-coach Sir Alex Ferguson.

Paul Pogba In Talks With Real Madrid

Paul Pogba’s agent has confirmed that he has begun talks with Real Madrid about a potential world record summer transfer.

The Juventus star – who is contracted to the Italian club until the summer of 2019 – is in his homeland playing for France at Euro 2016.

But his agent Mino Raiola says he is in contact with three clubs interested in signing the midfielder – and confirmed European champions Real are one of them.

Raiola told Spanish paper Marca: “We are talking (with Real) but nothing is decided. [Real coach] Zinedine Zidane’s wish is important. The club’s wish is important.

“We are in the initial phase. It’s not a negotiation. Both sides know what it wants and we shall see if we complete a deal or it ends in divorce.”

“Paul dreams of winning the Ballon d’Or…Real Madrid is a fantastic club to achieve that.

“He admires Zidane. He has always told me that. This is going to be very important in his decision.

“However, he needs to choose a project, not a coach, as coaches come and go. Pogba’s interest is not in being the most expensive signing and neither is it mine.

“The aim is for him to join the best sporting project and win as many titles as possible. We are talking with three teams and Paul likes the sporting projects of some of those.”

Pogba made 48 appearances in all competitions for Juve this past season, helping the club clinch a Serie A and Coppa Italia double.

“He wouldn’t have a problem staying at Juventus,” Raiola said. “He is very happy there. Paul chooses his future as it’s the logical thing.”

Over the last few months, more than 20,000 professional footballers from around the globe have been casting their votes for the 2015 FIFA FIFPro World XI.

Revealed at Monday evening’s FIFA Ballon d’Or Gala, the team of the year looks like this:

Goalkeeper: Manuel Neuer,
Defenders: Thiago Silva, Marcelo, Sergio Ramos, Dani Alves
Midfielders: Andres Iniesta, Luka Modric, Paul Pogba,
Forwards: Neymar, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo.

Assistant manager of the Netherlands and three-time Ballon d’Or winner Marco van Basten said: “I think if you have a team with all these champions, as a coach it’s good to be quiet! Wish them good luck and enjoy themselves. They’re all winners, they know exactly what to do.”

For the last seven years FIFA and the International Federation of Professional Footballers (FIFPro) have been selecting the team of the year on a joint basis, inviting footballers from around the world to choose a goalkeeper, four defenders, three midfielders and three forwards.

Once the votes are counted, the winners are announced at the FIFA Ballon d’Or Gala, held this year at the Kongresshaus in Zurich.
