Mahama accepts Donkor"s resignation

President John Dramani Mahama has accepted Dr. Kwabena Donkor’s resignation as power minister.

Dr. Donkor resigned on December 31 after months of him trying to solve the power crisis which the country had been grappling with for four years.

On Wednesday, his ministry announced an end to the power crisis. However GRIDCo and the Load Shedding Committee released statements that were contrary to this.

They said that even though a lot had been achieved in the power sector, there are “residual milestones to attain before load shedding will be over.”

In a statement that was released by the media office of the Flagstaff House, President John Mahama accepted the resignation Dr. Kwabena Donkor as Power Minister.

“The President thanked him for his services as the pioneer Minister for the Ministry of Power which was carved out of the then Ministry of Energy and Petroleum,” the statement added.
