MTN FA Cup: Cape Coast FC Protest Thrown Out

The Disciplinary Committee (DC) of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) headed by lawyer Prosper Harisson Addo has dismissed the protest filed by Cape Coast Metro Youth Football Club (FC)  against Great Astronomers in their MTN FA Cup game.

Cape Coast Metro Youth Football Club (the Petitioner) on March 15, 2016 filed a protest against Great Astronomers Football Club (the Respondent) for using six (6) unqualified players who they claim did not have their players’ licenses for inspection at the match in contravention of Articles, 16(1), 16(5)(b), 26(4) and 34(1)(e) of the General Regulations of the GFA.

The Committee stated the basis for throwing out the case as; Metro Youth failing to file the protest within two (2) days after the said match as stipulated by Article 30(b) of the FA Cup Regulationsth and that the protest of Cape Coast Metro Youth FC was filed out of time.

It ruled that the match result of 2-0 in favour of Great Astronomers FC shall stand and that there shall be no order as to cost.

The DC further ruled that should any party be dissatisfied with or aggrieved by this Decision, the party has within two (2) days of being notified of this Ruling to appeal to the Appeals Committee of the Ghana Football Association.

Korle Bu Senior Staff Protest; Insist CEO Must Go

Some members of the Korle Bu Senior Staff Association have embarked on a demonstration to protest what they claim to be attempts by the Board and management of the hospital to intimidate the leadership.

 

 

The threats follow a demand by the staff who want the Korle Bu CEO, Dr. Gilbert Buckle sacked.

 

 

Joy News’ Michaela Anderson reports that members of the association are marching to the hospital’s administration block in solidarity with their members being intimidated.

 

They are expected to reiterate their call for the CEO’s removal claiming that he has been a failure.

NDC Youth Protest in Prampram

Hundreds of National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters besieged the Prampram District Court in the Ningo Prampram Constituency on Tuesday, to protest against a suit filed by the newly elected Parliamentary Candidate, Sam George, against the constituency’s Youth Organizer, Habib Mohammed.

Habib Mohammed is standing trial for allegedly assaulting Sam George during the heated contest between him and the incumbent MP, E.T. Mensah , where Mohammed, an aide to E.T. Mensah, allegedly punched him in the eye.

Habib reportedly assaulted Sam George on Sunday November 22, after he [Sam George] alleged that about 3,000 names had been deleted from the NDC’s Ningo Prampram voters’ register.

Hundreds of youth clad in red and black, picketed at the precincts of the court on Tuesday morning in solidarity with the accused youth organizer.

According to the supporters, the case must be handled as a family matter since both the accused and the plaintiff are members of the party.

The Counsel for the accused also made a similar plea to the court for which reason the Presiding Judge, His Worship John Evans Ocran, directed the NDC Chairman of the constituency, Jacob Lartey, to call both parties and settle the matter amicably.

He however asked the Chairman to report back to the court within a reasonable period. The Judge adjourned the case to January 19th 2015.

Later in an interview with Citi News, the Ningo Prampram Constituency Chairman of the NDC, Jacob Lartey, said he will ensure a speedy resolution of the matter in the interest of the party.

Some of the agitated youth told Citi News they are disappointed that Mr. Sam George decided to go to court after winning the primary.

They said his actions will further bring divisions in the party if not checked. Mr. Sam George, seen as a protégé to the incumbent MP, beat him in a heated contest.

Mr. George has since been suspended by the NDC because he allegedly made some damning allegations against the Greater Accra Regional executives of the party. Meanwhile unconfirmed reports suggest he has been cleared of the suspension.
