Deputy Minister for Education, Honourable Samuel Okudjeto Ablakwa, has called on female footballers in the country, to combine education with their sporting ambitions, if they are to give themselves the needed variety in life.
The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, urged women in sports across the country to sustain their educational career whiles embarking on their various sporting endeavors.
The enterprising politician rallied the local media to give audience to women football, same as they they give to males.
Speaking at the Upper West Region ahead of the kick off of the National Women league, the North Tongu Member of Parliament said “the era of quiting education for football is long gone.
“It is time sports men and women combine education with their sports to give themselves wider options.
The education will provide support for for the aged sports men and women when they retire”.
The North Tongu Member of Parliament added that, “the government is ready to provide support in whatever form to help develop women football in Ghana. We are ever ready to provide support in whatever form to help make ladies football more appealing. The media should also give attention to the ladies soccer in much the same way like their women counterpart”.
Honourable Okudjeto Ablakwa officially kicked off the opening match between Real Upper Ladies and Ashtown ladies at the Wa Sports stadium.
The Deputy Education Minister donated GHC500.00 for the young ladies at the Wa Park.
