Line up of Techiman City against Hasaacas
A heart-pumping six-goal thriller produced quality goals and classic football at the Sekondi Sports Stadium on Match Week Two of the Ghana Premier League.
Eric Bekoe scored a brace, whilst Amos Korankye free-kick stand a chance of going into Ghana’s Puskas goal of the season. Roger Nortey and Baba Mahama nearly earned Techiman City a point, but Papa Arko dropped them dead on the death of proceedings.
How they fared
Owu 6/10 – Was at his usual best to safeguard his net, but there was little he could do to stop Roger Nortey and Baba Mahama from putting the ball behind him.
Egyin 6/10 – He shielded his goalkeeper with aplomb and neutralized the effect of Issaka Ibrahim. He was culpable for Techiman City’s near equaliser, but in a nutshell he stood up to be counted.
Korankye 7/10 – With the speed of light, he paraded the right flank and gave Insiah no oxygen all afternoon. He capped off super day with a contender for the season with beautiful free-kick.
Anobeah 7/10 – He felt relaxed after the third goal which all but ended the contest, but when he realized the game was far from killed, he became a concrete wall.
Adjei 5/10 – Adjei looked abandoned and fumbled to get hold on to Baba Mahama. He allowed the Techiman City danger man to cut through his end into the traffic before unleashing a terrific shot from the edge the box to beat Owu.
Poku 6/0 – He allowed the midfield looked flat and could not get grips of the ball. His thirst for 50-50 balls was absent too.
F. Mohammed 7/10 – Had to atone many times for the ineffectiveness of some his mates, but he kept his cool even when the going got tougher.
Acheampong 7/10 – Was outstanding in every aspect of his play. His hunger through the flanks gave Boateng a lot of home work to do.
Bekoe 8/10 – He announced his return to the local scene when he made amends for his skipper for missing an earlier penalty. He delivered on his own from 35-yards with beauty to cap of ab afternoon to remember. He was sad he left the game early.
Afful 8/10 – Afful’s surging runs will sting any opposition. He was unlucky not to have scored when Richmond Opoku volley fell on his way, but in all, he was brilliant.
Opoku 6/10 – Opoku fluffed multiple opportunities to take the game out of the reach of Techiman City. He worked hard for the team but his finishes were too poor.
Techiman City
Iddrisu 7/10 – He came into this game having kept a clean sheet in his debut premier league match last weekend, but he was hammered 3 before being forced off. There was nothing he could do about any of the goals he conceded. He saved a penalty from Daniel Egyin in the first half to keep his side in the game.
Boateng 6/10 – A day to remember with quality reading of the game, but he was poor with his deliveries into the opposition box.
Yeboah 6/10 – Organisation of the defense was poor and they paid dearly for the lack of leadership.
Opoku 4/10 – He was the basket on Techiman City’s backline and should be prepared to warm the bench if he doesn’t wake up.
Sarpong 6/10 – Strong out-and-out play. It is unfortunate the killer blow was punched through his end.
Baah 7/10 – Hard work, zealousness, lion heart et al epitomizes his output. Great going and tracking back to cover the spaces.
Mahama 8/10 – King of the den. Trickery, goldy touches, hunger, et al. He was super all afternoon and scored what looked like they could nick a draw.
Insiah 7/10 – He was thorn on the flesh and orchestrated almost everything sumptuous about their renaissance.
Ibrahim 7/10 – The lead striker will be coursing his stars for not drawing parity when he lobbed the ball over George Owu. Unfortunately, the ball chose underfoot of the post to the back of the net.
Rahman 6/10 – Great delivery but he was often passenger.
F. Abdul Rahman 6/10 – The performance of Rahman is synonymous to that Samr Nasri of late. He has the potential to hit the peak and must work harder in subsequent matches. He was the pothole in the set up and was substituted in the first half.
Hasaacas Substitutes:
Saliw Babawo 5/10 – the performance of Bekoe dwarfed his rate.
Papa Arko 7/10 – He scored the winner to kill the spirit of Techiman City.
Albert Gaisie 6/10 – Another player with potential. His touches are a testimony. But in this game, he was too cautious when he came on.
Techiman City Substitutes:
Roger Nortey 9/10 – Came on to replace Abdul Rahman and did everything right. He grabbed the life changing goal and had a hand in Baba Mahama’s stunner.
Yussif Agyarku 8/10 – His introduction was hazardous for Sekondi Hasaacas. He changed the game and closed the spaces they took advantage of to run away early in the gsme.
Prince Quarshie 4/10 – Replaced the injured Razak Iddrisu and could nit man the post well. Communication with his defenders was zero.
