Amankwah Mireku has questioned the tactical and technical abilities of Sergio Tranguil after watching two games of the Phobians with the Portuguese at the helm.

The ‘New Mourinho’ was on the bench for the Phobians drawn games against Liberty Professionals and Asante Kotoko (in the 2016 President’s Cup which they lost 3-2 on penalties).

Hearts of Oak under Sergio has dominated opponents but they fail to make use of their possession in the two matches and according to the former Skipper of the Phobians, the team’s undoing has been down to lack of tactical flexibility.

“His substitutions are not good. I realized it in the Hearts- Liberty game and also after the President’s cup game against Kotoko, I’m convinced his substitutions are not good,” he told Asempa FM.

Mireku also charged the players to go out of the way to win games for the club.

“Whether there is a coach or not, you have to play as a player of a team. So I don’t see Kenichi’s exit the cause for the defeat.”

“Hearts beat Dreams without Kenichi. If the players are determined to play, they will play.”

Hearts are preparing to play Aduana in a matchday 18 game of the Ghana Premier League.

Hearts-Kotoko Games Can Make or Break a Player - Mireku

Former Hearts of Oak defender and club captain, Yaw Amankwah Mireku has revealed to Sportscrusader.com, that a game involving Ghana’s two big clubs, had been a career defining moment for any player.

Kotoko recorded their fifth consecutive victory in the ‘Super Clash’ at the Accra Sports Stadium over Hearts. A first half howler from Burkinabe number one, Soulama Abdulai saw the ball end at the back of the net after he was put under pressure by Dauda Mohammed.

Speaking in a interview with Sportscrusader.com, Mireku who won the CAF Confederation cup in 2004 with the Phobians said, “it is bad and an unfortunate incident that fell Soulama’s way in the game, but that is what it means playing in games involving the two teams.”

“Hearts-Kotoko games are massive and special as one can even gain a national team call up as in the same vein it can break you as a player and end ones career,” he added.

Hearts will look to quickly revive their season with an away trip to Berekum to face in-form Chelsea.

Hearts Players Lack Attitude - Amakwah Mireku

Former Hearts of Oak skipper, Amankwah Mireku has blamed the club’s current predicament on lack of good attitude from the playing body.

Accra Hearts of Oak has gone about seven seasons without a major silverware — a span which is alien to the clubs fans.

Football connoisseurs and fans of the club has put the blame squarely at the doors of majority shareholder Togbe Afede XIV because the Clubs failure to lift a trophy began when he took over the mantle of administration in 2009.

But Amankwah Mireku who captained the team to defeat Esperance Sportive de Tunis in 2000 to win the CAf Champions League believes the decline of the club is down to lack of attitude on the part of the players.

“Football demands attitude, without it you can’t give off your best and I think that’s what players of Hearts of Oak of today lack,” Amankwah Mireku told Joy FM.

Amankwah Mireku, regarded as the most successful captain in the 104 years history of the Accra Hearts of Oak believes if the club has six Robin Gnagnes, they won’t have problems competing against the best in the country.

“If Hearts of Oak has six Robin Gnagnes, the club won’t have problems or they won’t be underperforming.” He noted.

He also called on fans of the club to go behind the team with prayers.

“The only thing Hearts of Oak fans can wish for is for the players to have the attitude to play for the club and all will be well. They should back the team with prayers and hope for the best.” He said.
