Maidens Won"t Wear Oversized Jersey Again - Chairman

Management Committee chairman of the Black Maidens of Ghana, Augustine Asante, has promised that the team will not wear oversized jerseys for matches again.

The female national U-17 team had to use scissors to cut oversized jerseys to suit for their World Cup qualifier against Morocco.

It was embarrassing to say the least according to Mr. Augustine Asante, but he has promised what the team wore for that game was the last.

He also revealed that the female national teams do not have a kit sponsor.

“It is unfortunate. Puma is the Ghana Football Association (GFA’s) kit sponsor. Unfortunately, they do not sponsor the women’s teams. They sponsor the Black Stars, so, jerseys that are sent to the FA are meant for the men, big men for that matter; the small (jerseys) ones among them are given to the women,” he told Accra based Class FM.

Mr. Augustine Asante also revealed that officials of the team were not aware that the jerseys for the team were big.

“The one they used on Saturday was given to the team some few days before the match, and we didn’t know they were so large for the girls; that is why we used them. But when we get them early and there is any work to be done on them, we do that. It is unfortunate last Saturday we couldn’t get the jerseys to work on them and it is not going to happen again,” he said.

The Black Maidens defeated the Moroccans 6-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium having already beaten them 4-0 in Rabat a fortnight ago – winning the tie 10-0 on aggregate.

Techiman City Is Welcome To Division 2

The Chairman of the Brong Ahafo regional Football Association, Augustine Asante has sent out the warmest message yet to beleaguered club, Techiman City.

 

 

The Techiman based club topped Zion 3 of the 2014/15 GN Bank Division One League (DOL) season with 56-points but were alleged to have been involved in a fixed match in match-week 22 against Wa Africa united during the last DOL season. Wa Africa United wrote a letter to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) outlining that an amount of Ghc2000 (Two thousand Ghana cedis) was paid to them from Techiman City to influence results of the said game.

 

After a long delay to rule on the case along with the Dreams FC and Tema youth ineligible player legal tussle, the ethics committee of the FA on Wednesday finally ruled on the bribery allegation – the ruling demoted both Techiman City and Wa Africa united to division two.

WA Africa United have accepted their fate and agreed to play in the lower division whilst President of Techiman City has issued a stench warning to the FA that his team won’t accept the ruling as they sense a bit of injustice and inconsistency with some part of the Felix Anyinsan committee report.

 

Division two (2) Chairman, Augustine Asante in an interview with Kumasi based, Boss fm, sent a soothing message to the Techiman club and words of encouragement should they agree and participate in the division.

 

“The transfer window for division two clubs will be opened in March so Techiman city have ample time to prepare as the window will be opened for three months within which the season will resume but clubs can still register new players,” he told Boss fm.

 

 

“The team that topped the division two table were promoted to division one and the slot they left is still available and that is the space Techiman City will occupy should they accept the accept the ethics committee ruling,” he added.
