Atsu Set To Make Newcastle Debut Tonight

Ghana international winger, Christian Atsu, is set to make his debut for Newcastle United after joining the Magpies on loan from Chelsea on transfer deadline day.

Newcastle manager, Rafa Benitez is ready to unleash the winger against Queens Park Rangers on Tuesday evening (7.45pm kick-off).

The Ghana international didn’t make the bench for the Magpies’ 2-0 Championship win over Derby County on Saturday but now appears to be given the chance to impress at Loftus Road.

Benitez told The Chronicle: “But what we have seen and the info we have is quite good. He will settle down and get fit.

“In training, he has been offering the things we expect from him. We are really pleased because he’s the kind of winger we were looking for.

“Hopefully, he can give us what we are looking for. I am sure he will give us good games, assists and some good goals.”

Nonetheless, Atsu faces stiff competition from rejuvenated French winger Yoan Gouffran who scored a splendid volley when they defeated Derby County by 2-0.

Championship Interest: Newcastle Pursue Ghana International

Newcastle have initiated talks with Chelsea over Ghana winger, Christian Atsu’s possible move to St James’ Park, according to Sky Sports.

The winger joined Chelsea in 2013 from Portuguese side, FC Porto, but was loaned to Eredivise side, Vitesse Arnheim where he made 25 appearance and scored five goals.

The 24-year-old has had loan spells with Everton, Bournemouth and Malaga.

Benitez may be hoping to use his relationship with Chelsea to persuade the West London club to choose Newcastle as Atsu’s next loan destination.

Newcastle United face fierce competition from Serie-A side, Torino, who are also reportedly interested in the Ghana international.
