We Revived A Dead GHALCA - Isaac Koomson

The Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) Chairmanship aspirant, Isaac Wilberforce Koomson, has said they were able to revive a dead GHALCA, when they took over the Association.

Mr. Koomson, is the current Vice Chairman of GHALCA, the mother body of all league clubs in the country.

Emmanuel Adotey, chairman of association was compelled to resign with his entire executives in 2011 over issues of finances of the Association.

In the state the association found itself, Mr. Koomson believes the current heads of the body did tremendous work to revive the dwindling fortunes of the association.

“When we came, the association (was falling apart),” Isaac Wilberforce Koomson noted in an interview with sportscrusader.com.

“Our predecessors were sacked or pushed out of GHALCA… imagine the situation of GHALCA were when we came in, everything was falling apart, but we a managed to hold it together,” he said.

Emmanuel Addotey administration were unable to organise any GHALCA competition, but that is history now.

“We have played all the tournaments, the association was unable to play during  the days of our predecessors and even brought innovations. The last tournament – G-6 was flamboyant,” he added.

GHALCA will go to the polls later this month to elect new executives.

Okere MP Pledges Support For Dreams FC

Member of Parliament for the Okere Constituency, Dan Kwaku Botwe has pledged massive support for Dreams Football Club as they prepare for their debut campaign in the Ghana Premier League.

 

The experienced legislature pledged the support of his entire constituency to Dreams FC when management members called upon him at his office at Parliament House in Accra on Wednesday. Dreams Football Club will be playing its home matches at the Dawu Stadium which is part of the Okere Constituency represented by Honourable Dan Botwe.

 

Management of the club thus recognized the need to call on the MP to formally inform him of the club’s decision to play its home games at the Dawu Park and to invite him to the commissioning of the refurbished facility and the friendly match against Hearts of Oak on Sunday.

Hon. Botwe in expressing the honour bestowed on him with the courtesy call, revealed he was particularly excited one of the areas under his constituency is being brought back to life through football.

He also pledged the unwavering support of his constituents and the people of the Eastern Region as the club prepares itself for its maiden campaign in the Ghanaian top flight.

“I am very excited that you are going to have your base in my constituency and Dawu for that matter. We all recall with nostalgia when we used to have Dawu Football Club and Dawu was all over the place and for that matter, my home area was popularized.”

 

“But now, for some years now, we’ve not had the privilege of watching football directly in my constituency. So I am very excited and all the people are also excited as through you, we are going to get the chance to watch live football matches involving all clubs in Ghana too.  This is also now our team and I can assure you that Dawu, the constituency and for that matter, the whole Eastern Region will offer you all the support you need to succeed,” he added.

 

Officials of Dreams Football Club will be joined by the chiefs and people of Dawu and other opinion leaders to commission the refurbished Dawu Stadium on Sunday, February 14, 2016 after which a high-profile friendly against Hearts of Oak will be played.
