"Don"t Cultivate The Habit Of Doping"- Johnson Aboagye

As the season for the Rio Olympics is drawing nearer by the day,many athlete across various disciplines are preparing for their preliminary or final qualification rounds to the Olympics games in Rio,Mr Johnson Aboagye the former president of the Ghana Weightlifting Federation (GWF), has cautioned various athlete about cultivating the habit of taking banned substances in their respective sports.


The former President told sportscrusader.com in an interview that “there is no doubt about the competition in the sports now,nonetheless it shouldn’t grant any athlete to cultivate the habit especially in the sports of weightlifting”.


In competitive sports, doping refers to the use of banned athletic performance-enhancing drugs by athletic competitors, where the term doping is widely used by organizations that regulate sporting competitions.


The use of drugs to enhance performance is considered unethical by most international sports organizations, including the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Doping is not confined to a limited few individuals, rather it is a widespread major problem in a number of sports throughout the world.


Any athlete who is caught doping could face disqualification of results in an event,suspension or the imposition of ineligibility for a period of time and a reprimand and no period of eligibility in their respective.

The Olympic Dream - Ghana Weightlifting Athletes

As the the countdown to the Rio Olympic games gets closer, athletes across all the various sporting disciplines are eagerly preparing to compete in their respective qualifiers for the event.


 


Ghanaian weightlifters on the other hand are vigorously preparing for their qualifying rounds to be held in Cameroon in May.

In an interview with sportscrusader.com, Coach of the national weightlifters Association Abubakari Taylor emphasized the need to get more athlete to qualify for the games in Rio, he said “the athlete are very prepared for the upcoming qualifiers,but they appeal to government of Ghana to aid them in the preparation as well as various corporate organization”.


 


Nii Otoo Larkyne an athlete told sportscrusader.com “am fired up for the upcoming championship in Cameroon and will do anything possible to qualify the Olympic games”.


 


Another female athlete Ruth Baffoe showed her an overwhelming tenacity and relentless energy in her training,she told sportscrusader.com how poised she was for the upcoming qualifiers and how she hope she will make the final cut for the Rio games.
