Jonathan Opoku Ends Goal Drought In Netherlands

Ghanaian youngster, Jonathan Opoku, ended his four-match run without a goal in the Dutch Eredivise league.


The 22-year-old enjoyed a spectacular outing across the 2015/16 season but has since cooled off in the current season with a lower goal return in his opening 6 games.


The VV Venlo attacker, however found his scoring boot for the promotion-chasing side with the third goal for his club in a 0-3 away win at Archile 29.


Opoku led the promotion ambition for VV Venlo last season with 14 goals to his name but has yet to replicate that ruthless form in front of goal in the current season.


Earlier goals from Torino Hunte and Ralf Seuntjen handed VVV an unassailable lead before Opoku registered his second of the season with just over 10 minutes left on the clock.


The win took VVV back into the second slot with 18 points from 9 games.

Go Ahead Eagles Ends Jonathan Opoku’s Eredivise Dreams

Rampant Ghanaian youngster Jonathan Opoku saw his hopes of sealing top-flight football shuttered by Go Ahead Eagles in the Netherlands.


The VV Venlo attacking hot shot,enjoyed a breakthrough season with his second tier side but ended the season in tears after a last minute leveler from Randy Wolters ousted Venlo from the play offs.


Opoku failed to replicate his prolific campaign in the league which saw him register an impressive 14 league goals across the season in a heartbreaking 2-2 thriller at home to the Eagles.


Eagles made the trip for the return leg in the play off with a 1-0 win to their name but soon doubled their lead moments into the return leg.


Two quick strikes from the hosts however turned the score on its head before Wolters ended the promotion ambitions of the home side with a 90 minute equalizer.


Jonathan Opoku and his Venlo colleagues thus missed out on the only remaining ticket to the Eredivise whiles GO Ahead Eagles lock horns with Degraafshaft in the last four stages.


The Ghanaian has been a reported target for a number of European clubs and could seal a summer switch in the upcoming transfer window.

Opoku"s Strike Seals Play Off Spot for VV Venlo

Netherlands based Ghanaian forward, Jonathan Opoku continued his fine scoring form to book a play off slot for VV Venlo in the Dutch second tier league.


The prolific forward took his season’s tally to 13 in a 1-0 over Emmen to cap an impressive season for VVV.


The Ghanaian got the only goal of the night in a hard earned victory over their high flying visitors.


Jonathan Opoku’s 51st minute low skidder proved to be the eventual winner and confirmed Venlo’s place in the play off places for Eredivise football next season.







The quick footed forward has blossomed into one of the feared attackers in Ducth football with his direct burst of pace and explosive shots from either foot.


Venlo look set to finish the season behind champions Sparta with our game to play in the season.
