President of Okwahu United Brian Acheampong has ordered the club to withdraw from the ongoing MTN FA Cup.

This order comes on the back of violent attacks by Okwahu fans in their Division One League tie against King Solomon at Kwahu Praso where Okwahu lost 1-0.

The President has asked the club to withdraw from the competition as they prepare to face disciplinary action.

Okwahu were scheduled to host Sekondi Hasaacas at Nkawkaw in a round of 16 tie on Sunday.

In a related development, club CEO Francis Anom is set to resign from the club following the unsavory incidents.

Sources say his letter will be tendered by the close of the day.

New Cape Coast Stadium to Host MTN FA Cup Final

The MTN FA Cup Committee has revealed the newly built Cape Coast stadium will host the 2016 final of the knockout competition.

Kurt Okraku, Chairman of the MTN FA Cup committee announced on Tuesday ahead of the round of 16 draw at the Alisa Hotel in Accra.

 

The ultra-modern all-seater 15,000 capacity stadium is set to be commissioned on Tuesday afternoon by the President of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama.

Defending champions, Medeama SC who exited the competition in the round of 64 won last seasons final against Kotoko at the Essipong Sports Stadium in Sekondi.

 

The 2016 MTN Ghana FA Cup final will be played on 08 August.

MTN FA Cup Round of 16 Draw Held

Record FA cup champions, Asante Kotoko have been paired against lower division side, Storm Academy in Mpraeso for the round of 16 MTN FA cup clash.

Kotoko is looking to reclaim the trophy they lost last season to Medeama SC in the 2014 final at the Essipong stadium.

Divion One side, Samartex FC, who eliminated Hearts of Oak on penalties, have another premier league opponent hurdle to jump as they have been paired against the LAtif Blessing led Liberty Professionals.

The match will be played in Samreboi and the Division One side will be hoping for a repeat of last season’s heroics where they ousted the Dansoman-based side.

Ghana Premier League leaders, Wa Alll Stars will host Mighty Royals as Elmina Sharks face True Democracy.

Matches will be played from Wednesday 11 May to Sunday 15 May, 2016.
