Jesus told a parable about the Kingdom of Heaven in Matthew 13:24. In this parable, an enemy came to sow tares among a farmer’s wheat. We see here that the enemy did this when men were sleeping, when people were totally unaware. Believer’s are at war with an enemy, the devil.

Ghana at 59: We Must Stop Lying And Cheating – Bishop Agyinasare

The founder of the Perez Chapel International, Bishop Charles Agyinasare, has admonished Ghanaians to maintain high moral standards as the country celebrates its 59th anniversary.

Bishop Agyinasare said at age 59, Ghanaians must eschew lies and cheating in their dealings with one another.

“We must avoid lying and deceit,” Bishop Agyinasare said during a sermon to mark Ghana’s Independence Anniversary celebration over the weekend. “We must discourage outright and pathological lies.”

He added: “Some people are pathological liars; they lie and believe in their lies. At 59, we must be honest. People brag and lie and make all kinds of claims – the airport belongs to my father and all kinds of fantastic lies. They haven’t traveled outside Accra before but they’ll tell you they just returned from Paris.”

The leader of the Perez Chapel had an advice for politicians too.

“Politicians must not lie to their constituents by making lying promises which they can’t honour… because in life moral authority is not given, but earned. You must earn it at the work place, home, by portraying an honest and trustworthy personality through your deeds because titles don’t make a person who they really are, it is character that makes them.”

The respected religious leader also impressed upon Ghanaians to make it a point to wear the cloak of honesty always.

“We must be honest as a people… We are expected to exhibit honesty to everyone we meet in life. There are times when people say the issue I’m dealing with is between me and God. No, it is not just a matter of between you and God, it is a duty to relate well with everyone and God.

“Your character is not between you and God, but you and your fellow human beings. We should live a positive perception about our worth in our relationship with people. When nobody is watching, do we have integrity, honesty? We must show honesty in the area of debt payment, there are some who borrow from friends and neighbours and don’t return them. We go for pens and we don’t return them.

“There is so much dishonesty that we don’t pay our debt. We take loans from banks and we don’t pay. Can you be trusted? You go to write an exams and you are not supposed to come into the examination hall with answers written on paper and you put it under your sleeves. That is dishonesty. At 59 as Ghanaians we should move away from the stage where examination papers are leaking and if they leak Mr Lecturer you don’t have to use it. In fact, some are stealing grades. People are entering universities with stolen results,” Agyinasare lamented.

Agyin-Asare Will Be A Great Chancellor – Prez Mahama

President John Mahama has predicted Bishop Dr Charles Agyin-Asare will become “a great Chancellor” as he takes over as the head of the Perez University College.

The presiding Bishop of the Perez Chapel was sworn in as the Chancellor of the institution Saturday.

Speaking at the function, Pres. Mahama encouraged educational institutions to change curricular to reflect what businesses and industries need for economic growth.

The president urged a change from grammar-based curricular to a more practical, evidence-based one by universities to make them relevant to industries.

President Mahama stated that “in 2014 the ministry of education, employment and labour relations and the ministry of trade organized a joint stakeholders’ consultation on jobs and employment. Participants from business and industry who attended this stakeholders’ consultation were very clear.

“They said they did not want the old grammar school kind of graduate. The one who comes and speaks English like a machine gun but when you give him practical things to do he cannot perform. They wanted practical, skilled, hands-on, innovative graduates to employ. As a result of this new demand from business and industry most institutions in the world have changed their curricular to support more practical, evidence-based, entrepreneurial, innovative and problem solving skills.”

On his part, Bishop Dr. Agyin-Asare promised the institution will churn out problem-solving scholars.

“I strongly believe that very soon this university college will churn out graduates who will not be learning by rote, but will be problem solving and solution providing scholars who will bring significant change and transformation to their spheres of influence.

“Especially at this crucial time in the history of Africa where we are having endemic corruption and many visionless intellectuals and graduates from institutions who will rather stay at home than work if they have not been employed, where we have engineers who sit in the office and are not manufacturing, teachers who are still using books written in the 60s instead of writing new material. Where most of our people do not want to think outside the box to accomplish unprecedented feats. I am convinced that there must be a change and I am glad to announce to you that change is coming,” the Presiding Bishop of the Perez Chapel International, which owns the university told the gathering.

The Perez Chapel International acquired the Pan African Christian University College in November 2015.

The institution and its two schools are duly accredited by the National Accreditation Board of Ghana since 2007. The School of Theology has affiliation with the Trinity Theological Seminary (TTS) and the School of Business is affiliated to the University of Cape Coast. These mentor institutions have the responsibility for overseeing the courses, training and certification of the respective schools.

To ensure a commitment to academic excellence, Perez Chapel has put together a Board of Governors made up of distinguished and accomplished individuals to oversee the running of the University.

The University is now located at Gomoa Pomadze-Winneba, along the Winneba-Swedru highway, about a kilometer from Winneba roundabout (Junction). Despite its close proximity to Winneba of the Effutu Municipality, it administratively falls under the Gomoa East District Assembly. The plan is to add on other campuses in the coming years.
