Wa Rockets FC captain Salifu Cisse has tasked his colleagues to make the Wa Park a fortress for visiting teams in the ongoing GN Bank Division One League if they want to achieve their premier league dreams.
The teen sensation led the team to qualify to the second tier league in Ghana football at the end of last season, but, has called on the playing body to up their game to avoid any defeat at home.
The prolific forward, who is yet to open his scoring in the three week old Division One League remained confident that his goals will flow and that fans of the club should continue to rally behind them as they seek to bring smiles onto their faces.
Wa Rockets FC edged out Guan United at home but has since lost all two fixtures played on the road ahead of their midweek clash with Unity FC at the Wa Park.
“To qualify to the premier league as a club, we have to build on our strong home form and get some vital points away from home,” he told sportscrusader.com.
“We don’t have to drop any points in front of our supporters as it could dent our qualification chances in the latter stages of the season,” he added.
We just have to make our backyard a strong area and then pick up the finishing points away from home”, Cisse said.
The multi talented footballer who can either play between the sticks or lead the attack then pleaded for support from fans of the Division One League newbies to exercise patience in their quest to bring success to the club as these are early stages of the season.
“This is Division One football and not like the second division we played and qualified from,” he said.
“Our supporters must exercise patience and rally behind us even when we are struggling because that is the time we will need them most,” he stressed.
“With their support from the stands, we are always looking at paying them back with three points on a weekly basis,” the player revealed.
He added: “Our aim is to give the people of Wa a local derby in the premier league against Wa All Stars”.
Cisse swept all awards at the end of the Upper West regional division two league thanks to his goals and ambidextrous footwork.
