GPL Match Report: Liberty Snatch Vital Point At Dreams

A late Latif Blessing strike ensured that Liberty Professionals twice came from behind to draw 2-2 with Dreams FC at the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu on Wednesday afternoon.

The Ghana Premier League Match Week 12 encounter was keenly contested by both sides from start to finish with the home side starting the brightest.

Dreams FC piled early pressure on the Scientific Soccer lads, winning a series of articles pieces at advantageous positions.

The deadlock, however was not broken until the 17th minute of the game when striker Lawson Bekui rose highest to head home a well taken free kick.

Liberty responded well, probing the Dreams FC defenses and their effort paid off in the 25th when Bernard Arthur was fouled by Dreams FC defender Bernard Quansah into the penalty box.

Arthur stepped up to take the resulting penalty and he dispatched it expertly, sending keeper Mozart Adjetey the wrong way.

The match continued with both sides expressing determination to go for more goals but their respectable defenses proved up to the task.

Emmanuel Hayford came close to putting the home side in front on 33 minute but his effort from range was deflected for a corner.

Maxwell Mensah’s timely clearance prevented Dreams from taking the lead after a mis-timed clearance by skipper Samuel Sarfo.

But it was Dreams who eventually took the lead when Lawson Bekui capitalized on a miscommunication between Liberty keeper Steven Kweku and defender Maxwell Mensah to slot the ball in an empty net just before half time.

The game went into recess with the home side leading 2-1 but Liberty came out in the second half with greater determination.

However, Dreams FC managed to keep them at bay for a large part of the game until the 84th minute when Latif Blessing fired home from 4 yards out following some confusion in the Dreams penalty area.

Dreams responded by launching series of attacks on the Liberty defense, forcing goal keeper Steven Kweku to make some brilliant saves.

Ainooson"s Dreams FC Move Far From Done

And Dreams FC, whose back line has been leaking in goals in their last four matches, has earmarked him as a solution to their problems.

According to Sportscrusader.com sources, the Kweiman-based club has held preliminary talks with the former GPL best defender, and further negotiations will continue in the coming days.

There are other unknown offers before Ainooson, but it is believed he wants to stay at Kotoko.
